Heli skiing near Manali
Heli skiing uses the helicopter in place of a ski lift, setting a small group high on the mountain to ski untracked runs down to a pickup point. In India it runs around Manali and Gulmarg, usually from January to March. When do helicopters fly?
Charters and joy rides fly in daylight and fair weather. Mountain weather can hold a flight on the day, so keep some flexibility in the plan; heli skiing also depends on snow and avalanche conditions, and the guide and pilot have the final say.
