It is the price of a seat on a scheduled same-day flight from Dehradun, not of the helicopter.

What the fixed-departure price includes

• Your seat on the helicopter from Sahastradhara Helipad, Dehradun to Badrinath and back on the same day.
• Car service at Badrinath with a priority puja pass, and the puja arranged for you at Badrinath Ji temple.
• Arrival and departure assistance.
• Transportation with a service-oriented driver, with fuel, toll, parking fee and driver allowance.
• All prevailing taxes.

What it does not include

• Travel to the starting point in Dehradun, by flight or train, and any hotel there.
• Meals not in the inclusions, tips and personal expenses.
• Travel insurance.
• Anything not mentioned in the cost inclusions.

Badrinath helicopter ticket price against a private charter

The same day at the shrine can also be bought as a private Badrinath charter for the whole helicopter, up to six passengers, on your own date. For one or two pilgrims who can travel on the operator's date, the seat is usually the economical choice; for a larger group the charter usually works out cheaper per person. How a fixed-departure seat works

• A scheduled date. The operator sets the departure dates, not you. Seats on each date are limited, so book early in the season.
• A shared aircraft. You fly with other pilgrims on a Bell 407 or AS 350 B3, subject to availability, which seats six. A maximum of six passengers is allowed in one helicopter.
• Six passengers to run. The service needs a minimum of six passengers for the same-day return.
• Weather decides the day. The trip is a same-day return subject to weather. The schedule is tentative, the exact timings are advised a day before departure, and things can change at the last moment for operational or weather reasons. The page does not set out what happens to a seat if the flight cannot operate, so ask for that in writing before you pay.

Dehradun to Badrinath helicopter: the day in plain words

You report at Sahastradhara Helipad in Dehradun at 07:00 for boarding and a pre-flight briefing. The helicopter leaves for Badrinath at 08:00, over the Himalayan ranges, and lands at 09:00. From the helipad you are escorted to Badrinath Ji temple and attend the puja arranged for you. After darshan and puja the helicopter leaves Badrinath Helipad at 13:00 and lands back at Sahastradhara at 14:00, where the services end. As the first report is at 07:00, plan to be in Dehradun the evening before.

Baggage and weight

• Total passenger weight must not exceed 300 kg per helicopter, so give each passenger's accurate weight when you book.
• The maximum baggage allowance is 5 kg per person.
• Only one small pack, of up to 2 kg, is allowed in flight.
• Excess-volume baggage is not allowed on the helicopter. Leave everything else at your hotel in Dehradun.

What to check before you pay

• The price confirmed in writing for your date and group size, inclusive of taxes, with service charges shown.
• The fixed-departure date, and that it has enough passengers to run.
• Each passenger's weight against the 300 kg total, and the 5 kg baggage limit.
• The change rule: changes must be requested in writing at least 21 days before the tour, and none are possible within 21 days.
• The cancellation slabs: 10% of the tour cost 30 or more days ahead, 25% at 29 to 22 days, 60% at 21 to 16 days and 100% at 15 days or less.
