Kumbh Mela 2027 and 2028 dates: Haridwar, Nashik and Ujjain

Three Kumbh Melas fall in the next two years: the Ardh Kumbh at Haridwar, the Simhastha at Nashik and Trimbakeshwar, and the Simhastha at Ujjain. Here are the dates announced so far, and what is still to be confirmed.

Haridwar Ardh Kumbh 2027: 14 January to 20 April

The Ardh Kumbh at Haridwar runs from 14 January to 20 April 2027, with ten bathing days. The three Amrit Snans are on 6 March (Mahashivratri), 8 March (Phalguna Amavasya) and 14 April (Mesha Sankranti). The other bathing days are Makar Sankranti (14 January), Mauni Amavasya (6 February), Vasant Panchami (11 February), Magh Purnima (20 February), Nav Samvatsar (7 April), Ram Navami (15 April) and Chaitra Purnima (20 April).

Nashik Simhastha 2027: Amrit Snans in August and September

The Simhastha at Nashik and Trimbakeshwar began with the flag hoisting at Trimbakeshwar and Ramkund on 31 October 2026 and runs until the flags come down on 24 July 2028. The Nagar Pradakshina is on 29 July 2027, and the Amrit Snans are on:

• 2 August 2027: first Amrit Snan.
• 31 August 2027: second Amrit Snan.
• 11 September 2027 at Nashik and 12 September 2027 at Trimbakeshwar: third Amrit Snan.

The bathing is at Ramkund on the Godavari in Nashik and at Kushavarta in Trimbakeshwar, about 30 km apart. See Nashik Simhastha 2027 by helicopter.

Ujjain Simhastha 2028: expected March to May

The Simhastha at Ujjain is expected from 27 March to 27 May 2028, on the Kshipra. The Shahi Snan dates will be announced by the Simhastha Mela authority; schedules circulating now are not official. The nearest airport is Indore, about 55 km away. See Ujjain Simhastha 2028 by helicopter.

Getting there and staying

Roads into a Kumbh city are diverted and parking is zoned around the bathing days, so arrive a day before any snan you plan to attend. A helicopter charter gets a group to the city on its own date, with landing where the administration permits. When is the Haridwar Kumbh 2027? From 14 January to 20 April 2027, with Amrit Snans on 6 March, 8 March and 14 April.

When are the Nashik Kumbh 2027 Amrit Snans? 2 August, 31 August, and 11 September at Nashik and 12 September at Trimbakeshwar, all in 2027.

When is the Ujjain Simhastha 2028? It is expected from 27 March to 27 May 2028. The Shahi Snan dates are still to be announced by the Mela authority.

Is the Haridwar 2027 Mela a full Kumbh? It is announced as an Ardh Kumbh, held between two full Kumbhs at Haridwar.
